The Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works was first published in 1992 and has been updated several times since.
MCHW consists of six volumes including the administrative procedures for its use, the Specification for Highways Works (volume 1 series 1200) and its corresponding Method of Measurement (volume 5 part 4) are applicable to the road studs made available to contractors by Roadcraft Safety Products Ltd and Fleming & Company. It incorporates the requirements of the European Commission which are mandatory for all public procurement bodies.
SA 1/08 is included within this document and lists products which comply with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD), or have obtained statutory type approval, type approval and registration in order that they can be used on the UK road network.
